I’m not sure that I’ve posted a dinner thats as easy to make and more delicious then this cheeseburger casserole.

There aren’t many ingredients at all and most of them I already had in my pantry.

Cheeseburger casserole hits all of the criteria that Im looking for in a busy weeknight dinner.

This casserole also combines two family favorite meals together in one amazing dish. Pasta and cheeseburgers!

Do I have to use beef for this easy cheeseburger casserole?

No, you don’t have to use ground beef for this recipe.

Ground turkey or chicken would work just as well, too. Use whatever you’d prefer.

What cheese can I use for this easy cheeseburger casserole?

I love cheddar for this recipe because it gives it more of a cheeseburger feel but you can use whatever cheese you prefer.

Try adding some pepper jack to add a little kick to this casseole, too, if youd like.

Just be sure to shred it yourself because its going to melt way better that way.

Do I really have to shred the cheese myself?

Yes, absolutely!This is the one thing that I’d really urge you not to take a shortcut on.

Pres-shredded bagged cheese has chemicals in it like cellulose.

This keeps the cheese from clumping but it also prevents it from melting properly.

Shred the cheese off the block. This cheeseburger casserole will be much creamier.

What should I serve with this easy cheeseburger casserole

Casseroles are fantastic because they can be served alone for a complete meal. So dont stress about side dishes if youd prefer not to serve any.

If you are looking for suggestions, I think some homemade garlic bread and a vegetable on the side would do the trick for sure.

Easy cheeseburger casserole ingredients:

  • Ground Beef
  • Onion, chopped
  • Tomato Soup
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Onion Powder
  • Water
  • Medium Sized Shells (keep a ladle of pasta water)
  • Cheddar Cheese, hand shredded

Instructions

First, saute the onion and brown the ground beef until the beef is cooked all the way through.

Now drain the fat, add the worchestershire sauce and season it with the salt, pepper and onion powder.

Now add the tomato soup cans.

Then add the water and stir it all into the beef.

Next, let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes.

Now stir in half of the shredded cheese and pasta water and let that simmer for about 2 minutes.

Then spray a baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Then stir together the shells and the sauce.

Once theyre evenly combined, add the mixture to a baking dish and top with the remaining shredded cheese.

Finally, cover the casserole and bake until golden bubbly.

Lastly, add dried parsley as a garnish (optional). Serve warm and enjoy.

Easy Cheeseburger Casserole

This easy cheeseburger casserole is made with seasoned ground beef, pasta shells, tomato soup and just a few other simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 3 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 10.7 oz cans Campbell's tomato soup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded and divided
  • 1 pound medium size pasta shells
  • 1 ladle pasta water
  • parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet add the ground beef and onion. Brown the beef (breaking it into small pieces) and drain any extra fat.

  • Season the beef with salt, pepper and onion powder. Add the Worcestershire sauce and stir everything together.

  • Add the two cans of soup and water. Stir it into the beef until its evenly combined. Let this simmer for about 5 minutes

  • Then stir in half of the shredded cheese and a ladle of the pasta water.

  • Add the shells (cooked to al dente) and stir them into the sauce.

  • Now spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray and add the cooked shells and meat mixture.

  • Then top with the rest of the cheese and bake covered at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

  • let it cook slightly before serving and add the fresh parsley (optional). Serve warm and enjoy!

    This is so good. It’s now a family favorite. The first time I tried this I used turkey burger, not having any hamburger. My family loved it. About a month later they asked me to make it again. This time I really had to make substitutions because I was running out of all my staples. The substitutions ended up taking a really good food and taking it next level for my family.

    I have a large family, so I have to double the recipe. I only had 1 pound of hamburger, so I used that and found some breakfast sausage for the other pound of meat needed. Any sausage works here. For the tomato soup, I only had 1 can. Upon searching for anything I could use to substitute the second can needed, I decided upon a can of nacho cheese. Oh my goodness! It’s a bit spicy, but not a lot, and so cheesy! My family asks for this every week now.

    What I’ve found is this recipe is great as is, but it’s so easy to personalize it. Thank you!
