Hello!

not sure if this is the place but i kind of stumbled upon a idea ?

but i wonder why the pokemon company never made any "side" games for other pokemon related stuff? like cordinator game, pokemon farming/breeding game, i know some of the games had breeding , collecting materials and a bit of farming in legends but today i saw the steam new trending upcoming stuff and for the past 2-3-4 years they keep churning out farming , survival crafting games, and similar, so i was wonder what could be the reason the pokemon company never bothered to make any pokemon games related to these sub categories even though, they made the pokemon world and ignoring 80% of potential side games. so im curious if anyone else thought why they are not making games related to thing that part of the anime /manga/ and other games(even though they added cafe and sleep its not that "big" part of the pokemon world)

Pokémon has done likely everything by this point. As silly as this May sound, recycling a few ideas may be their ideal goal. They just have to know which ones and not eff it up a millionth time!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is a rich well of opportunity that I don't think has ever been tapped, and that is Pokémon Kart.

Whether standalone, or integrated into another IP, there's an awful lot of characters with unique traits that could prove popular in the colourful, crazy environment of a Mario Kart-like game.

In the ridiculous scenario where Mario Kart popularity ever started to wane, Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures have still got this potential in their collective back pocket.

You guys had me at blood and sem*n.

@gcunit you’re not wrong at all. This actually hasn’t been done! There’s a Pokémon “racer” but it’s a pretty big turd! And only existed to promote gen 4 at the time as it featured munchlax at the time.

@gcunit
Speaking about Pokemon Racing, I got the idea from Chocobo Racing which Bahamut was playable character and he is flying character, so I think Charizard and other Flying Pokemons are great candidates for flying racers.

What are you talking about? There's a ton of side games.

Stadium 1+2+3 (counting the first game, which was exclusive to Japan), TCG 1+2, the PokéROM series, Project Studio Red+Blue, Pinball, Pinball Ruby & Sapphire, Dash, Box, Ranch (though these two are utilities rather than games), the Mystery Dungeon series, the Ranger series (which I'd almost forgotten), Dream Radar, Picross, the Rumble series, Colosseum, Battle Revolution, XD, Poké Park 1+2, Trozei 1+2, Snap 1+2, Pokkén Tournament, Shuffle, Go, Sleep, Café, and of course the franchise's inclusion in the Super Smash Bros. series.

There are likely others that I've missed, but there are plenty of choices to appease various tastes.

@SillyG in those games you always a trainer , and lets not talk about pinball... yea i know about ranger but the only thing you do in there is take picture of pokemons yea? i know alot of ppl liked it but , i wouldn't call it a side game with proper profession game , i loved mystery dungeon too but last one was remake and the one before was 2005 ? but as i meant profession games like cordinator , breeder, farmer ? even those cart games that come out recently have lots of potential

Pokemon has had a ton of spinoffs over the years. Some much better than others. On one hand you have some great series like Pokemon Ranger and Pokemon Snap. On the other, you have steaming refuse piles like Pokemon Dash (Kid Tyra was burned so hard by this one) and Hey You, Pikachu.

I wouldn't say the well is dry since there are other genres the series could get into. I'd at least get behind Pokemon Kart or some sort of racer where you can ride Pokemon, or drive vehicles with Pokemon as partners. Heck, I'd say some games could use additional franchise releases, like Conquest and Colosseum/XD.

Currently playing: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Switch), Pepper Grinder (Switch)

@HecateDFO Pokemon Ranger isn't where you take pictures of Pokemon. That's Pokemon SNAP. Pokemon Ranger is a game where you solve problems in a region by temporarily capturing Pokemon and using them as tools.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon's last new game was Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon- which came out in 2015. It was pretty much the big "final" Mystery Dungeon game, acting as a send-off for the series in terms of newer entries.

The only spin-offs where you play as a trainer outright are the Colosseum, Stadium, and Battle Revolution games. The other spin-offs have you either playing as the Pokemon themselves or as people who have different professions.

Pokemon Cafe has you play the role of a cafe owner. Pokemon Conquest has you play as a warlord. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon has you playing as a Pokemon, and so do the Pokepark and rumble games. Pokemon Snap has you play as a photographer. Detective Pikachu has us playing as a Detective.

The thing is that Pokemon games now don't really have many actual spin-offs anymore. There's still "side-games," but the proper era of standalone spin-offs of the series has passed. Now we basically just get mobile games with the occasional surprise like New Pokemon Snap or Mystery Dungeon remakes.

I keep expecting them to make a spinoff game based on the Pokémon Concierge tv show. That would make a very cute game.

@Anti-Matter I'm sure a flying Pokemon racer could be great, but in the part of my brain that likes games to follow some sort of real world logic, I would be distracted by "Well, shouldn't Pokémon x be faster at flying than Pokémon y, so how could y possibly win a race" type thinking. But if you put them in a vehicle of some sort, then that helps level the playing field in my head.
